WestConnex: Responding to Population Needs, Easing Congestion and Creating a Better Connected Sydney
To help relieve mounting pressure on Sydney’s main roads, the NSW Government invested in WestConnex, Australia’s largest transport infrastructure project costing some $17 billion, which will widen and extend the M4, duplicate the M5 East and join them together to form a continuous, free-flowing 33 kilometre western bypass of Sydney’s CBD.
Ahead of the Congestion and Urban Mobility Summit 2017 we chat to Dennis Cliche, CEO of the Sydney Motorway Corporation and WestConnex. In this article we explore the impact of the WestConnex project for the residents of Greater Sydney and delve into the strategies employed; from financing to stakeholder engagement and project management, to effectively deliver the massive transport project.
